01

Find the Problem

You identify one specific problem for one customer type and write it down.

This morning you are looking at the same long list of side hustle ideas and feeling the same hesitation you felt yesterday. That ends now. Today you stop collecting options and pick one, and you do it in the time it takes to drink a coffee before work.

Your method is three steps, in this order. First, name one type of person you can help: a local café, a dog groomer, a youtuber with 200 subscribers, an estate agent, a yoga teacher, anyone you can picture clearly. Second, write down the problem that type of person complains about most often, not the one you think is clever. Choose the annoying small one, the thing they mention in passing, the task they keep putting off because they hate it. Third, put those two together into one sentence that names who you help, what you solve, and what they get as a result.

Here is your task for Day 1: write that single sentence on paper or in a notes app. Spend no more than ten minutes on it. If you cannot settle in three minutes, pick the first candidate that feels honest and move on. The sentence does not need to be polished. It does not need to be marketable yet. It just needs to be specific enough that a stranger could read it and know exactly who you are describing and what you will take off their hands.

When it is written, you have finished today. You have turned a vague wish into a target, and that target will make every later step simpler, because you will no longer be deciding what to do, only how to do it for this one person. Tomorrow you will shape that sentence into an offer that someone can say yes to. For now, close the tab with the list, you have made the only choice that matters.
